Attraverso progetti di accesso all’acqua potabile, di formazione agricola e di gestione dei rifiuti vogliamo migliorare la qualità della vita delle comunità locali.
La transizione energetica può essere considerata giusta solo se, parallelamente ai programmi di innovazione, assicura rispetto per l’ambiente e tutela delle comunità locali. Quello che Eni sta facendo in Indonesia punta a migliorare la qualità della vita attraverso un progetto per fornire acqua potabile nei distretti di Muara Jawa e Samboja, nella provincia del Kalimantan orientale.
Il programma ha permesso la perforazione di 4 pozzi e la fornitura di altrettanti serbatoi, a cui si aggiungono 5 pompe/motori d’acqua e l’installazione di una condotta idrica di 772 metri.
Sono 1.600 le persone che usufruiranno del nuovo sistema e che sono state sensibilizzate sulle buone prassi per la manutenzione dei pozzi. Agli abitanti dell’area, infatti, sono stati dedicati percorsi di formazione per promuovere l’importanza dell’accesso all’acqua pulita e delle pratiche igieniche, così da rendere tutti i beneficiari del progetto ancora più consapevoli.
L’agricoltura è una delle occupazioni principali a Samboja, in particolare per via della sua superficie coltivabile particolarmente estesa. È per questo motivo che il centro di formazione Joglo Tani Kolong Langit (JTKL) è considerato un punto di riferimento per chi vuole condividere e approfondire conoscenze e tecniche su produzione integrata, coltivazione di legumi e utilizzo degli orti, per rispondere alle esigenze familiari quotidiane.
Attraverso l’agricoltura integrata, oggi gli agricoltori tirocinanti possono allevare bestiame in modo da soddisfare le loro esigenze alimentari e sono diventati un punto di riferimento per i centri di formazione delle più rinomate università della regione.
Con quasi 70.00 abitanti, Samboja è il terzo bacino più popoloso nella reggenza di Kutai Kartanegara. È una realtà che vive condizioni difficili sotto molteplici aspetti, compreso quello della gestione dei rifiuti.
Per contrastare il loro accumulo nei cortili delle case, il governo locale ha istituito un gruppo sociale indipendente di esperti in materia ambientale, il “Sahabat Sampah” (team di gestione dei rifiuti). Dopo aver chiesto la nostra collaborazione per risolvere il problema, è stato avviato il progetto pilota Clean, Green and Healthy Samboja, basato su un ciclo di vita completo di gestione dei rifiuti attraverso una competizione tra comunità locali. Durante questa fase, tutti sono stati chiamati a tenere l’ambiente domestico pulito e curato e a incoraggiare i rappresentanti delle altre comunità a fare lo stesso.
L’Agenda 2030 per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile è un programma d’azione sottoscritto nel settembre 2015 da 193 Paesi membri dell’ONU che ingloba 17 obiettivi tesi allo svilupposocio-economico delle comunità e dei territori. Con i progetti in Indonesia, contribuiremo al raggiungimento di questi obiettivi:
SDG 2: porre fine alla fame, raggiungere la sicurezza alimentare, migliorare la nutrizione e promuovere un’agricoltura sostenibile
SDG 6: garantire a tutti la disponibilità e la gestione sostenibile dell’acqua e delle strutture igienico-sanitarie
SDG 12: raggiungere la gestione eco-compatibile dei rifiuti durante il loro intero ciclo di vita e ridurre il loro rilascio in aria, acqua e suolo per minimizzare l’impatto negativo sulla salute umana e sull’ambiente.
