Oggi si contano 8 miliardi di persone e si prevede entro il 2050 una crescita ulteriore di circa 20% che si concentrerà in Africa, India e nel Sud-Est Asiatico. Alla crescita demografica si aggiunge la previsione di aumento del consumo energetico che, se nei paesi OCSE resta stabile, cresce invece velocemente in India, Sud-Est Asiatico, Africa e Medio Oriente.
Il mondo dell’energia è caratterizzato inoltre dall’evoluzione dei mercati. Governi, istituzioni e aziende sono chiamati a garantire affidabilità ed efficienza dell’approvvigionamento e, come confermato dalla COP27, l’impegno a mantenere il riscaldamento globale sotto 1,5°C rispetto ai livelli pre-industriali.
