Enibioch4in, società di Eni Sustainable Mobility, promuove l’intera catena del biometano come strumento per la decarbonizzazione e la transizione energetica.
Con l’acquisizione nel 2021 di 22 impianti in Italia, di cui 21 per la generazione di energia elettrica da biogas e un impianto per il trattamento della FORSU, la frazione organica dei rifiuti solidi urbani, Enibioch4in ha posto le basi per una forte crescita nel settore del biometano, puntando a riconvertirele strutture alla produzione di biometano per immettere in rete, a regime, oltre 50 milioni di metri cubi all’anno.
L’operazione rientra nell’ambito della più ampia strategia di decarbonizzazione di Eni, che prevede l’obiettivo del totale abbattimento delle emissioni di processi industriali e prodotti al 2050, e rappresenta una delle leve per una rapida crescita delle produzioni rinnovabili, al fine di mettere a disposizione dei clienti una quota crescente di prodotti green e bio (biocarburanti liquidi e bio-metano), integrandosi con l’aumento delle stazioni di servizio Eni che erogheranno CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) e LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) sulla rete italiana.
La produzione di biometano si pone nel quadro dell’economia circolare, consentendo la valorizzazione degli scarti agricoli, agroindustriali, reflui zootecnici e rifiuti organici, favorendo così la costituzione di un legame tra mondo agricolo e dell’energia in un’ottica di sostenibilità di lungo termine.
A valle del decreto del Ministero della Transizione Ecologica (ora Ministero dell’Ambiente e della Sicurezza Energetica) del 15 settembre 2022, n. 340, recante disposizioni per l’incentivazione del biometano immesso nella rete del gas naturale e prodotto, nel rispetto dei requisiti di sostenibilità di cui alla direttiva 2018/2001/UE dell’11 dicembre 2018, da impianti di nuova realizzazione, agricoli e non, e da impianti di produzione di elettricità alimentati da biogas agricolo oggetto di riconversione; con i primi bandi pubblici per la partecipazione alle procedure competitive per l'accesso agli incentivi per il biometano emessi dal GSE (Gestore dei Servizi Energetici), si stimano oltre 1,7 miliardi di euro a disposizione per promuovere la produzione di 2 miliardi di metri cubi annuali entro l’anno 2026: 10 volte la produzione attuale.
Eni intende promuovere l’intera catena del biometano con accordi di collaborazione con varie organizzazioni professionali, dialogando con le aziende produttrici di biogas per la produzione di biometano derivante da digestione anaerobica di biomasse, effluenti zootecnici e FORSU.

Nell’ambito dei progetti di sviluppo realizzati da Eni in Basilicata, è in fase di partenza il Progetto “Produzione di Biometano da scarti agricoli”. Enibioch4in Quadruvium ha pubblicato un Avviso Esplorativo aperto agli operatori lucani finalizzato a ricevere manifestazioni di interesse da parte di soggetti locali con l’obiettivo di favorire la partecipazione e la consultazione del maggior numero di operatori economici potenzialmente interessati.
