In Mexico, we work in the exploration and development of hydrocarbons, mainly through the Area 1 project located off the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Through our social investment initiatives, we support programs that strengthen local economies, encourage new sources of income, and help protect the region’s natural and cultural heritage. We also promote inclusion and respect for human rights, while supporting actions to conserve forests and biodiversity across the continent. Our commitment to human rights is at the heart of our efforts to drive a fair and sustainable energy transition.
We have been in Mexico since 2006 and started our operations in the Gulf of Mexico in 2015, after being awarded Area 1, which includes the Amoca, Miztón, and Tecoalli fields. Today, Eni México is the country’s leading private operator, with production from Area 1 through four offshore platforms and the FPSO MIAMTE MV34.
Thanks to a four-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with UNESCO, we carry out initiatives that promote sustainable local development through economic diversification, the protection of natural and cultural heritage, improved access to basic services, and the promotion of human rights and Inclusion.
We also have a six-year MoU with the Government of Tabasco to strengthen cooperation in key areas such as education, employment, economic diversification, community health, environmental sustainability, access to clean energy, water and sanitation, safety, and a culture of peace. The goal is to enhance the well-being of communities near our operations in the municipality of Cárdenas.
