In Iraq, we are active in the exploration and development of hydrocarbons and natural gas. We are developing the Zubair oil and gas field in the Basra region in the south of the country. To aid energy diversification, we are active in various sectors in the Middle East, from the production of hydrocarbons and refining to the development of high-tech energy efficiency solutions, in what is a geographically strategic area. Alongside these activities, we carry out numerous initiatives to support the local population in the areas of education, healthcare, and the environment, as well as to promote water access.
Activity start date: 2009 – present
The production of oil and gas in Iraq is supported thanks to the development of the Al-Zubair field, where associated gas is also used to generate electricity. In 2025, activities comprised the execution of an additional development phase of the Enhanced Redevelopment Plan (ERP). Main facilities have already been installed. Ongoing development activities include programs to expand water availability to maintain adequate reservoir pressurization in the long-term and to increase treatment and re-injection capacity. In particular, it has been initiated the phased start-up of the Zubair Mishrif Expansion project. This project includes four oil treatment units for a total capacity of 200 kboe/d to ensure the replacement of existing production facilities and an additional water injection capacity of 750 kboe/d. In addition, a program to achieve technical zero flaring by 2027 is being implemented. The field reserves will be progressively put into production by drilling additional productive wells over the next few years and by means of the collection facilities expansion and the completion of the water reinjection wells.
We work with the state company to expand the Permanent Power Generation Plant project, which aims to develop a new line of connection to the national grid, contributing to satisfying the high level of demand for electricity in the city of Basra and creating jobs. To support the country’s development and stability, we contribute to strengthening healthcare services and promote training for medical personnel. Initiatives have been launched across the country to support school education, including projects in the schools of Basra Governorate and the Al-Zubair District, and a project to improve the quality of the water network in the city of Basra, launched with UNICEF and the European Union, is currently ongoing.
