Our activity in Spain covers different areas of the energy market. Our presence in the renewable energy sector is all the more important thanks to Plenitude, which is making increased contributions to the country’s decarbonisation objectives, as well as to those in Europe with its photovoltaic and wind power plants. We are also active in the production and sale of lubricants and in the marketing of fuels and combustibles through our subsidiary Enilive Iberia, and in the supply and sale of natural gas through Eni España Comercializadora de Gas. We are active in the chemical industry through Versalis International, our commercial subsidiary.
Activity start date: 1966 – present
In Spain, through Plenitude, we produce energy from renewable sources to offer more sustainable energy supply solutions for households and businesses and for the electricity market. In addition, some important agreements for the development of wind and photovoltaic installations, including hybridisation solutions and battery storage technology in the country, are contributing to the progressive decarbonisation of the electricity sector and facilitating the energy transition, whilst also enabling new jobs to be created. Plenitude is committed to the conservation of ecosystems; in fact, a protection plan for biodiversity is active in the areas of the Raposeras and Cuevas wind farms in cooperation with the local administration and other entities.
In June 2026 we announced the start of production at its Villarino photovoltaic plant, located in the municipality of Villarino de los Aires, in Salamanca (Castilla y León), with an installed capacity of 220 MW. The project consists of a single solar park covering approximately 286 hectares and includes more than 365,000 bifacial modules. The plant is expected to reach an estimated annual production of over 400 GWh. In 2025, we started up the northern block of the Renopool photovoltaic plant in the Extremadura region, with an installed capacity of 130 MW. This is the largest solar park built by Plenitude globally and consists of seven plants, with a total installed capacity of 330 MW. Plenitude has also recently started up the 150 MW Caparacena solar plant and begun construction of a 90 MW solar plant in the region of Murcia and a 200 MW photovoltaic plant in Andalusia.
In addition, through our subsidiary Enilive Iberia, we focus on the production and marketing of lubricants, the wholesale distribution of fuels and we support our customers' mobility with a network of service stations covering the main routes. The traditional range of fuels and lubricants will be complemented by new biofuels derived from 100% renewable raw materials (in compliance with the European Renewable Energy Directive), such as HVOlution, Eni's HVO diesel, of which it is the second largest producer in Europe. In the Spanish market, we are also active in the supply and sale of natural gas through Eni España Comercializadora de Gas, which serves industrial customers, wholesalers, small and medium-sized enterprises and operators in the co-generation market. We are active in the chemical sector through Versalis International's Barcelona office, and in the trading sector through Eni Trading & Shipping.
We generate renewable energy, supply gas and electricity to households and industry, market lubricants, fuels and produce chemicals.
