The International Bar Association (IBA), the world's leading organisation of international legal practitioners, bar associations and law societies, in co-operation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), has launched the "Anti-Corruption Strategy for the Legal Profession" (AC Strategy).
AC Strategy is a project focused on the role of the legal professionals within the fight against corruption and in particular on the application of the tools and of the international laws on the subject, with the aim of ensuring the correctness of the legal profession and to provide the lawyers with the appropriate instruments for the identification and minimisation of the potential risks of corruption.
International experts from around 15 different countries and important global supporters are part of the supporters of AC Strategy.
As a consequence of the active participation by the Legal Department of eni s.p.a. to international events on the subject of fight against corruption (as for instance the last OCSE forum in Paris), IBA has invited eni as supporter of the AC Strategy. This represents a fundamental acknowledgement towards eni, as for the first time IBA has invited a commercial organisation to that role.
In the frame of the AC Strategy project, anti-corruption seminars for legal professionals are held all over the world. Eni has been requested, as supporter, to be part through its experts from the Legal Department of the panel of speakers intervening in the seminars that will be held in the second half of 2011 and in 2012, so as to share with the participants the experience and the importance attributed by commercial organisations to the fight against corruption.
In particular, in 2011 workshops have been scheduled to be held in Sao Paulo, Caracas and Bogota; shortly the 2012 calendar of training events will be released, that will include also a seminar in Rome.
