Ochigufu 1 NFW well, which has led to the discovery, will be brought into production in record time. The well is located at approximately 150 kilometers off the coast and 9.8 kilometers from the Ngoma FPSO (West Hub) and the closeness to Ngoma FPSO allows the increase of the resource base of the West Hub project, currently underway.
The Sankofa well results provide evidence of the success of the exploration activities carried out by the Eni-led consortium, in full compliance with safety and environmental protection standards
Eni, through its company Eni Congo, will participate, as Operator, in the joint venture with SNPC for the exploration of the block
During the meeting, Paolo Scaroni, along with Claudio Descalzi, COO of Eni E&P, commented with the President of the Republic the recent Nenè Marine discovery and discussed the role that gas will play in the economic and industrial development of the country.
Eni signs cooperation agreement with Republic of Congo and reaffirms its historic commitment to the country
The agreement comes as a result of negotiations with the Congolese government that has led to the extension of permits around strategic resources.
Eni made a new discovery of gas and condensates offshore Congo, in the exploration prospect of Nkala Marine, located in Marine XII block. The finding, realized through the Nkala Marine 1 well, is expected to have a potential of 250-350 million barrels of oil equivalent in place.
The discovery was made through the well Nene’ Marine 1, which has been drilled in 24 meters of water to a depth of 3,013 meters.
The result was achieved just eight months after obtaining the production permit.
The President of the Republic of Congo met with Eni's CEO, Paolo Scaroni in Rome to discuss Eni's ongoing activities and projects in the Country, with particular focus on recent discoveries.
The exploration well, Nene Marine 3, which led to the important result, was drilled in a water depth of 28 meters and has encountered a significant wet gas and light oil accumulation in the pre-salt clastic sequence outlining a significant extension to the west of the reservoir and its hydraulic continuity.
With this agreement Eni is expanding its position in the exploration of the West Africa Transform Margin.
The discovery is relevant as it may have the potential for commercial development and confirms the importance of the block also in terms of the presence of oil, as well as natural gas and condensates.
