This is why Claudia Torres – at ENI Plenitude since 2018 – values her most important characteristic every day, namely her ability to create connections with others.
Born in Chile, Claudia lived as a true modern nomad, spending her first 20 years in Nigeria, Argentina, Venezuela, Egypt, Russia, Italy, Mexico and London, studying Business Management at King's College London and then Marketing and Communication at Bocconi in Milan.
This international background, and her continuous movement from one situation to another, has profoundly influenced her personality, giving her the ability to create authentic relationships with people in a spontaneous and natural way.
Thanks to this mix of experiences, Claudia has been able to showcase her uniqueness: connections.
The power of connections lies in the ability to build bridges and bonds that enrich our path and that of the people we meet. This unique quality makes it possible to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, since every interaction and every exchange is an opportunity to grow and reflect on who we are and what we want to become.
Connections teach us to see the world with new eyes, through the experiences, emotions and perspectives of others. In this mutual exchange, we find an enrichment that goes beyond mere contact: we build a network of shared meaning and value.
Furthermore, a study conducted by Yang Claire Yang and Chapel Hill, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, showed that social relationships not only enrich our personal and professional journey, but also contribute to physical well-being and longevity. Analysis of thousands of people showed that having a large number of good social ties is associated with better health outcomes, such as lower levels of inflammation and a lower risk of serious disease, like other known protective factors.
The first step is active listening: paying full and genuine attention to our interlocutor, without judgment or interruption. By becoming consciously present, we can set aside unnecessary prejudices and thoughts, and receive both verbal and non-verbal messages. Listening helps us develop empathy and boosts emotional intelligence, key elements for building authentic relationships with others.
The ability to connect with others allows us to build solid bonds in every area of our lives.
In the workplace, the unique value of connections allows us to have honest interactions with colleagues, customers and collaborators, fostering an environment based on trust and mutual support, where innovation and creativity can thrive.
