Hammerfest (Norway), 10 June 2016 – Today, Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi, during his visit to FPSO Goliat and the Hammerfest District, met the mayor of the Norvegian city, Alf Jakobsen. During the meeting, which was held in an atmosphere of cordiality, the mayor of the city highlighted and appreciated the considerable effort made by Eni for the environmental protection and social initiatives.
The mayor also acknowledged the absolute technological innovation represented by the Goliat FPSO, located approximately 80 km offshore Hammerfest, which currently produces about 80,000 barrels of oil per day (around 52,000 net to Eni). Among the characteristics that make the facility unique from the environmental point of view, Goliat receives power from shore by means of a subsea power cables, which allows to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% compared to other solutions, while the water and gas products are re-injected into the reservoir. Furthermore, the FPSO has a storage capacity of oil equivalent of 950,000 barrels.
Goliat will shortly reach a peak production of about 100,000 barrels of oil per day.
