San Donato Milanese (Milan), 11 July 2012 – Eni has decided to support the creation of an Eni Chair in Energy Markets at Bocconi University, with the aim of promoting study and analysis of the energy market. Eni has been a strategic partner of Bocconi University since 2007. The professorship, perpetually entitled, has been assigned to Professor Michele Polo, Director of Iefe (Bocconi’s research center for economics and the politics of energy and the environment) and Vice-Rector for the Internal Organization of the University.
The chair will cover the subject matter of energy, both in a teaching and research context, allowing Eni to benefit from a continuous, privileged and increasingly qualified dialogue in the energy industry, as well as other related sectors.
For Eni, the professorship is a confirmation of the positive collaboration developed with Bocconi University and, more generally, with the Italian and international university system in which numerous partnerships were signed regarding education, research and development.
As part of Eni’s agreements with Italian universities, it has been involved in establishing a second level masters and a degree in Petroleum Engineering with the Polytechnic University of Turin, a masters in Oil & Gas Plant Planning and Safety and Environmental Protection in the Oil & Gas industry with the University of Bologna and a degree in Energetic Engineering "orientation hydrocarbon energy" with the Polytechnic University of Milan. At the international level, Eni has an agreement with the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation within the SAID Business School and awards 3 scholarships to promising African students at St. Antony's College, Oxford University, one of the most prestigious programmes in Europe for African studies.
Eni collaborates with the academic world on areas of research and development with the aim of becoming a beacon of excellence for technological innovation in oil, gas, the environment and the furthest advanced frontiers of renewable energy. Among the most prestigious partnerships Eni has are: MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), signed in February 2008, followed by a five-year strategic alliance with Stanford University signed in 2011.
In Italy, Eni has signed framework agreements for research and development with the Polytechnic Universities of Milan and Turin and CNR – Italy’s National Research Council.
