Eni Rovuma Basin trains 25 Mozambican SMEs under the iCreate program

Maputo (Mozambique), 15 December 2021 - Eni Rovuma Basin, on behalf of the Area 4 Partners and in partnership with Standard Bank Business Incubator, announces that 25 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) completed the first entrepreneurship support program, denominated iCreate. This program was implemented as part of the Coral South project local content plan and aimed to strengthen the capabilities of the SMEs already established in the market, with high potential to growth, in order to make them more competitive and sustainable in the long term.

The program had a duration of 12 weeks, from September 30 to December 10, and it was designed having in mind the challenges and the needs that the SMEs are facing, due to the uncertainties caused by the current economic situation.

Divided in 3 phases, the iCreate program was comprised of one-to-one advisory sessions with a dedicated Growth wheel certified business advisor, where the participants had the opportunity to have a 360º assessment of their business; seven workshop sessions with the objective of inspiring the participants to identify opportunities to promote changes in their business; 11 masterclasses that covered subjects such as digital market, Health Safety and Environment, Contract & Procurement, access to finance and more.

The Managing Director of Eni Rovuma Basin, Giorgio Vicini, highlighted the importance of supporting the SMEs development by saying “Eni is fully committed with the development of Local Content and this program is part of our efforts to improve the capabilities of Mozambican SMEs, in order to allow them to participate more actively in the economic development of the country”.

The 25 SMEs considered the training program a great plus for their business, especially during these difficult times that have a huge impact on the economy and directly affect small and medium enterprises.
