San Donato Milanese, 24 June 2011 – With reference to today's news regarding alleged intermediary used for the acquisition of a licence in Nigeria by the Malabu company, Eni states that no transaction was made with said company.

In particular, with reference to the Block 245, the Nigerian Federal Government recently awarded Eni and Shell, on equal basis, an exploitation licence. In this regard, negotiations and transactions of both Eni and Shell took place directly with Nigeria's Federal Government, without the use of an intermediary.

With reference to alleged bribes linked to the sale of Wind by Enel in 2005, as reported today by the press, Eni CEO Paolo Scaroni says he is "not involved in any way with such actions and has never been targeted by the inquiry of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Rome, which involved other parties and individuals and was subsequently closed".
