In Australia working hand in hand with Traditional Owners to protect Country

Our activities in Australia focus on exploration, development and production of hydrocarbons and natural gas, and the renewable energy market. Our local development activities aim to preserve the environment and respect cultural heritage, through involvement of indigenous communities in our initiatives. Eni is present in the Northern Territory, where we indirectly contribute to improving access to energy for the nearby community of Wadeye, one of the largest Aboriginal communities in the country. This region lies at the heart of the relationship between Eni, the land and its people.

The initiatives to support the territory

We support the health and inclusion of local communities through a range of programmes. The North Australian Centre for Oil and Gas, a laboratory of Charles Darwin University, for example, has hi-tech equipment to conduct projects relating to education and research. Thanks to the agreement with the Northern Territory Power and Water Corporation, we also sell gas for domestic use to the entire Northern Territory of Australia and the byproduct of such agreement allowed for establishment of new gas-fired power station for Wadeye.
