- SUSTAINABILITY
Wote (Kenya), 31 May 2024 – Eni Kenya signed today a cooperation agreement with the Government of Makueni County to support access to health services in the area, strengthening its commitment to the communities living in and around the agri-feedstock project in line with its sustainable development approach.
The signing aims to reinforce two key structures for health care, namely the Makueni County Referral Hospital (‘MCRH’) and the Kambi-Mawe Dispensary, focusing on maternal and neonatal care, malnutrition diseases, water sanitation hygiene, and primary health services. It will positively impact around one million people living in the area, concentrating on the most vulnerable ones.
Medical equipment for basic and emergency maternal, obstetric, and neonatal care services will be provided to the two health facilities, and specific equipment will serve the Referral Hospital Blood Unit’s needs to sustain and increase its support for patients. The project will also include an awareness program on healthy behavior at households’ level and the renovation of the Kambi-Mawe Dispensary through improving its access to water and sanitation hygiene.
After the signing, the Governor of Makueni County, H.E. Mutula Kilonzo Junior, and the Managing Director of Eni Kenya, Enrico Tavolini, visited the facilities that have already been supplied with the first batch of medical equipment to officially kick off the project.
Eni has been active in Kenya since 2012 with a wide range of innovative projects to promote sustainable mobility, integrating the country into the biofuels value chain.
