Eni inaugurates a solar power and water system in Kamupapa, province of Namibe

With approximately 60,000 beneficiaries, the project is allowing remote communities to get access to water and electricity.

Luanda, 1st March, 2019 – Eni Angola, Operator of Block 15/06, Sonangol, Concessionare, and partners Sonangol P&P and SSI, commissioned yesterday, at the presence of the Deputy Governor for the Technical Sector and Infrastructures of the Province of Namibe Mr José Tchindongo António, and of the Administrator of the Municipality of Bibala Mr Tchinanga Nkole, a solar power and water system in Kamupapa, province of Namibe.

 

The solar power and water system will allow the community to shorten the long walks in search of water, improve of the medical services of the local health post, and allow the school to function also in the evening. As part of the project, health awareness campaigns have been carried out and the community farming activity has been promoted through agro-pastoral field schools and model fields that have been cultivated.

 

The system is part of an integrated social project, which is implemented by the NGO ADPP in the municipality of Bibala, province of Namibe and in the municipality of Gambos, province of Huíla, since 2017. With approximately 60,000 beneficiaries, the project is allowing remote communities to get access to water and electricity.
