Eni's reporting system, that includes the company's 2010 Annual Report, the 2010 Sustainability Performance Report and eni for development, has been awarded the highest grade (A+) according to the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the most authoritative metric for the reporting of economic, environmental and social sustainability adopted by the world's leading companies.
This result is a reflection of Eni's huge commitment to the transparent, extensive and exhaustive reporting across the whole range of sustainability issues. The decision to adopt such a rigorous and all-embracing standard as that of the GRI, is evidence of a corporate management system that integrates all aspects of sustainability and continuously monitors developments in order to improve and refine strategic decisions.
Eni adopted the GRI guidelines in 2006 (GRI Sustainability Reporting Guidelines). To enhance the experience acquired by the reporting of sustainability, in 2009 Eni took an active part in the work group for the preparation of specific guidelines for the oil & gas sector (O&G Sector Supplement) that integrate the general guidelines. The 2010 report already features indicators outlines in the O&G Sector Supplement that will be officially published in 2012 foll owing approval by the GRI Advisory Committee.
