The event is the last stage of the 2013 World Championship of Cross Country Rallies

Rome, October 12, 2013 – Eni Chairman Giuseppe Recchi will participate on a motorbike in the Rally of Morocco 2013, which will take place from October 13 – 19 and is the last stage of the 2013 World Championship of Cross Country Rallies.

This is an opportunity, through an exceptional testimonial and a new and important partnership, for Eni to reaffirm and expand its commitment in the world of racing as a leading technological partner as well as an official supplier of fuel and lubricants.

«It is a wonderful opportunity to be able to participate as a driver of a so challenging motorbike in such an important race with a champion like Oscar Polli, the leader of the Freeracing Team – says Eni Chairman Giuseppe Recchi –. It will be a challenging testing ground to face more than 2000 km in the desert with KTM 500, for the motorcycles and especially for me, and a great opportunity to confirm the performance of our lubricants and fuels. Being able to represent the Six-legged dog – which is synonymous of excellence, passion for challenges, and partnerships in Africa – in this competition is a source of pride and great satisfaction for me. I’ve always been a fan of motocross, which I have practiced from an early age, and when I was asked to directly demonstrate our commitment to the world of motorsports, I accepted the invitation with enthusiasm. It is an extraordinary challenge that I hope to meet with success, even though the competition is very tough and all of  the best professionals of this sport are participating.‘

For Eni, entering competitive motorbike rallies, which are testing grounds for the development of innovative technologies and formulas, is an opportunity to test the most advanced and reliable fuels and lubricants under extreme conditions, and thereby obtain useful information for their further development thanks to on-site exchanges of information and expertise between company technicians and the staff of the Freeracing team.

Eni, a leading energy company in Italy and in the world, and the first oil company to be present in North Africa, will join Oscar Polli and the other riders on the Freeracing team during the planned 2051 km of the six-day race in the Moroccan dunes of Zagora and Merzouga both with the local presence of its Chairman, Giuseppe Recchi, and with the supply of its fuels and lubricants.

“Racing‘ fuel must meet specific requirements dictated by its use under conditions of extreme performance stress. For this reason, the anti-knock characteristics, the burning rate, and the evaporative properties – in a word, the “chemistry‘ of the gasoline – take on particular importance. The fuel that Eni provides to the Freeracing team has excellent cleaning properties, which translates into good cleaning of the fuel system, in addition to fewer deposits in the combustion chamber. A “cleaner‘ engine can provide better energy efficiency and improved performance consistency over time. These properties characterize the premium gasoline, RON 100, which is distributed to consumers at Eni gas stations under the brand name eni BluSuper+.

The lubricant, eni i-Ride (Offroad 10W-50), which has been developed for this specific use, builds on the know-how that Eni has accumulated in the past through its collaborations in the off-road and supermotard sectors with prestigious manufacturers. The distinctive feature of this special oil is a combination of properties that guarantee extreme reliability of all components (engine, clutch, transmission), further increasing the performance and efficiency of the entire system. The same passion for technology and performance is reflected in the entire line of lubricants for motorcycles, eni i-Ride, which are excellent products for both enthusiasts and consumers.
