A year after his death an evening of technology, music, design and film to remember the man who revolutionised the contemporary world.
On Thursday 4 October at 7.00pm MAXXI welcomes the return of ContemporaneaMente , the successful series of meetings with leading figures in Italian art and culture who reflect on the contemporary, supported by Eni as the main partner.
The festival, the first part of which (from April to June 2012) included the participation of Michele Campanella, Francesca Archibugi, Niccolò Ammaniti, Stefano Bollani and Giovanni Minoli, starts up again with A Tribute to Steve Jobs, a special evening dedicated to the restless genius of computer science a year after his death.
A Tribute to Steve Jobs is an independent event, unrelated to Apple, which, through videos, interviews and personal accounts, will celebrate one of the most influential men of this generation in the world, a figure of outstanding charisma whose creativity has revolutionised the contemporary world.
Organized by Euro Forum, in collaboration with Philip Morris Italy, and with the contribution of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome, A Tribute to Steve Jobs is a three-hour event that will discuss design, business, marketing and technology, film and music. Journalists, communication and new media experts, and famous “Mac-users‘ will alternate in the Auditorium MAXXI to give an account of Jobs from different perspectives and offer the public their analyses, memories and personal anecdotes. On the stage of the MAXXI Auditorium a big screen will project the life of Steve Jobs, taking in his passions, his creativity, the cultural context in which he grew up, and will also remember the ideas and dreams that he was able to turn into reality and that helped to change all of our lives.
The evening’s guests include Marco Cattaneo editor of National Geographic Italy and Le Scienze, Aldo Cazzullo columnist and correspondent of Corriere della Sera, Umberto Croppi general manager of Esposizione del Made in Italy e del Design italiano, Carlo Massarini journalist and broadcaster, Eugenio Occorsio, business journalist of La Repubblica, Claudio Strinati President of the Scientific Committee of the Fondazione Sorgente Group and Massimo Teodori columnist and professor of contemporary and American history.
Luca Damiani, journalist and historic voice of RAI Radio 3, will have the task of “stitching together‘ video clips, personal testimonies, musical performances and speeches from the guests. Interviews will be projected with the expert of the Beat Generation Emanuele Bevilacqua, the director of Wall Street Italia Luca Ciarrocca, the journalist Furio Colombo and the editor of La Stampa Mario Calabresi, put together exclusively for this event by Raffaello Siniscalco. Media partners for the event are Adnkronos and Corriere della Sera.
On 4 October from 11.00am at MAXXI 12 famous creations by Steve Jobs will be on display, from the historic Apple I, kindly lent by Marco Boglione President of BasicNet, to the rare Next Cube and Macintosh 128K.
