Our initiatives for sustainable local development.
Eni operations in Nigeria span both the onshore and offshore areas of the country. Its onshore operations, carried out through its subsidiary Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC), are located across 4 States in the Niger Delta, namely Bayelsa, Delta, Imo and Rivers, with a footprint in over 300 communities within these States.
Community investments like The Green River Project have helped to enhance trust between the company and local communities, and to strengthen the company’s social license to operate. This synergy is ensured by the fact that the all the company’s social projects are negotiated and defined with the active collaboration of the local communities themselves.
Eni in Nigeria supports education as a way of investing in Youth empowerment and development through Scholarship & Bursary Schemes, and other measures.
The company has a long history of support for local content development through a multi-pronged approach which includes, Domiciliation of work, Business Development Support for Local industry, Skills Acquisition & Training, and Research & Development.
Use of local contractors in the companies’ activities has led to technology transfer, significant achievement in local fabrication and construction, and other operational activities.
In order to develop the capacity of Nigerian-owned companies to actively participate in the oil and gas industry, several programmes have been rolled out, reaching to more than 200 contracting companies.
We develop capacity building initiatives, also in partnership with Nigerian institutions, to enhance the role of Nigerians along the whole energy value chain.
