We opened the Adam photovoltaic plant, located in the Tataouine Governate and in which we have a 50 per cent stake as operator, in December 2019. The energy produced by this installation will be used on the adjacent industrial site, reducing gas consumption and saving the equivalent of 6,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. The 5MW installation is one element of our co-operation agreement with the nationally-owned Entreprise Tunisienne d’Activités Pétrolières (ETAP) to develop projects generating renewable forms of energy in Tunisia. The project is further confirmation of our commitment to decarbonizing the country’s energy system.
Workplace safety is a fundamental principle that we share with employees, contract workers and local communities. For that reason, we implement all necessary measures to avoid accidents, including organisational models to assess and manage risk, training programmes, skills development and the promotion of a culture of safety
The installation comprises an innovative hybrid electricity-generating system, with storage batteries of 2.2MWp and 1.5 MWh, that can be easily integrated with the existing gas turbines.
