We have been operating in the Exploration & Production sector in the country since 2009. We have consolidated our historical presence in the Middle East with new projects in Iraq.
Exploration&Production
Below are our 2019 production figures for the country.
Our production and development activities in Iraq are regulated by a technical service contract. Production comes from the Zubair field, while development relates to a further phase of the Zubair projectERP (Enhanced Redevelopment Plan), which will allow aproduction plateau level of 700 thousand barrels per day to be achieved. The programme also includes the use of associated gas for electricity generation. Production capacity and the main facilities to reach targetproduction have already been installed. The reserves in the field will be progressively put into production with the drilling of additional production wells over the coming years.
We create energy
Every day we work towards creating development and stability in Iraq, supporting the country by improving the services of the health system of the city of Basra to allow it to reach international standards. We also launched an initiative in support of schooling in the area, inaugurating the Al Burjesia High School which will host up to 900 students.
The development of the Iraqi health service
In 2017, we launched initiatives to support the Health Directorate of the Governorate of Basra. Among the objectives of the project are the development of specialist services, in particular cancer diagnostics, and the improvement of infrastructures for the care and training of staff.
Education is considered to be one of the most powerful tools for the transformation of society. That is why Iraq is taking steps to keep pace with other countries that have signed up to the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals. To help increase access to education in schools in Basra Governorate and Zubair District, Eni Iraq B.V have formed a partnership with the MoO/Basra Oil Company and local authorities. The Al Burjesia high school opened in January 2020 and will be a safe and healthy learning environment for 900 students. The facility is a tangible testimony to this partnership. It is supplied with electricity, Internet connection, personal computers, drinking water and sanitation facilities.
