Our activities in Ghana

Ghana is one of the key countries in our 2019-2022 strategy. We operate in the Exploration & Production and Refining & Marketing and Chemical sectors and invest in local development initiatives.

Ghanaian offshore exploration

Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) is one of our most important integrated projects in Africa and involves two phases, the development of oil fields and that of unassociated gas fields. OCTP, which has reserves of about 40 bilion cubic meters of unassociated gas and 500 million barrels of oil, is located about 60 kilometres off the country's coast. In May 2019, we made a new gas and condensate discovery in the CTP-Block 4. The well, drilled on the Akoma exploration prospect located about 50 km from the coast and 12 km north-west from the Sankofa hub, has between 550 and 650 billion cubic feet of gas and 18-20 million barrels of associated condensate. The discovery could be quickly put into production via a subsea tie link to the FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor, a floating system used offshore for the production and storage of gas and oil.

We create energy

In Ghana, the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) project, producing gas for the domestic network, contributes to guarantee energy access in the country and our health projects have improved health services in three different districts.

OCTP energy lights up Ghana

The OCTP project develops unassociated gas in deep waters that will guarantee Ghana at least 15 years of reliable gas supplies at a competitive price, making a huge contribution to the country's economic development and energy access. Produced gas is sent to an onshore treater to be fed into the country's network. The project is a perfect example of our Dual flag model of cooperation between the company and host country.

Okuafo Pa for the development of agriculture

The training centre, opened in 2019 in Ghana, aims to promote economic diversification within the agricultural sector via lectures and practical classes, and supports entrepreneurs by establishing self-sustaining consortiums. The training programme, developed in collaboration with local universities, includes a pathway for farmers and a study plan aimed at future entrepreneurs.

Health is an asset to be protected

From 2012 to 2017, the Eni Foundation ran a project to improve maternity and child services in three districts in the country. We extended basic health services to eight poorly served areas with vaccination and training programmes, strengthened obstetric and neonatal emergency care in ten health centres, built and renovated hospitals and clinics and trained staff to properly monitor data and carry out administrative procedures.

Livelihood Restoration Plan

The Livelihood Restoration Plan is an initiative designed to contribute to the development of Ghana's economy, providing the local population with training opportunities aimed at creating new businesses. The programme has trained and supported about 1,400 people in starting new businesses and is transforming local dynamics, generating positive ripples within the district.

FOCUS

Ghana was the first British colony in sub-Saharan Africa to gain independence.

Today it exports hydrocarbons and electricity and produces cocoa and gold.
