Safety Day 2015 gets going
30 March, at the headquarters in San Donato Milanese, sees the beginning of the fourth annual event dedicated to the culture of HSE at Eni in the presence of senior company management with the participation of about 400 managers and the awarding of the most virtuous industrial areas in terms of safety and the people who have most distinguished themselves in this field.
The fourth Safety Day also features a great novelty. For the first time the initiative will be global and the event in San Donato Milanese will take place at the same time as local Safety Days, organised at Eni’s major industrial sites and operating sites in Italy and around the world. So Safety Day 2015 will be a global Eni Safety Day; a day dedicated to the awareness and spread of the importance of safety at all levels of the company.
During the event, which will have two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, there will also be the ceremony to present the eni safety award to industrial areas of each line of the business that achieved the best safety performance during the year. It is an ambitious and complex prize that involves districts and subsidiaries engaged in upstream operations, refineries, companies with midstream and g&p retail operations, saipem projects, to name just a few, and the winners are selected on the basis of a scoring model that takes account of a range of parameters, such as the trend in accident performance of employees and contractors.
Prizes will also be given to the faces of safety, i.e. the Eni people who most stood out for behaviours and ideas that have improved safety at Eni or whose actions were instrumental avoiding potentially dangerous situations in difficult contexts. It is a significant prize that highlights the fundamental importance, especially in this context, of the contribution and commitment of the individual in the collective result.
The afternoon session is devoted entirely to contractors and will involve some 150 companies operating in various sectors, from drilling to mechanical maintenance, oil well services and general services. The winning contractor companies will receive the eni safety award based on an evaluation that takes account of several factors, including the historical trend of injuries and accidents and the commitment shown by the companies to safety-related issues.
