Eni operates in Nigeria through its subsidiaries NAOC, NAE and AENR in both the onshore and offshore areas of the Niger Delta. The company has a stake in a total of 41 mining leases, which together cover an area of about 36,285km2. Agip Energy and Natural Resources (AENR) and Nigerian Agip Exploration (NAE) work on the offshore areas of the Niger Delta. The onshore areas are operated by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC).
Eni operates in the mid and downstream sectors of the Nigerian oil and gas industry through its investments in bringing gas to the domestic and international markets. NAOC has built the first natural gas recycling plant in Nigeria and is a shareholder in the Nigeria LNG project. Eni’s investment in power generation represents a critical pillar of development for the country.
