Skill Acquisition & Training

Skill Acquisition & Training

Human capacity building initiatives are being executed to close identified skill gaps in the industry and enhance the utilization of Nigerian human resources in the industry. These initiatives include:

  • Marine Capacity Development through which the Company is providing critical practical sea-time experience for 20 Nigerian Cadets, Marine Engineers and crew on board sea going vessels to enable them acquire requisite skills and sea experience in marine operations. This is in addition to two hundred and eighty (280) Seafarers trained from the Company’s host communities. These are aimed at re-building capacity in the sector to international standards after decades of decline for manning of Nigerian and foreign owned vessels.
  • Critical Technical Skills Development: Some 288 Nigerian are undergoing ‘on-the-job’ trainings in various disciplines including geology, electrical engineering, welding, construction, rigging, lifting, scaffolding, instrumentation fitting, piping design and fabrication, seismic data processing, and civil works. Other areas are: Waste Management, Project Management, HSE, Exploration/Petroleum/Production Engineering, Corrosion and Materials Engineering, Artificial Lifting, PIPESIM Software Training, Hydraulic & Pneumatic Operations & Maintenance, QA/QC, etc. I10 young Nigerians are also being trained specifically as Sub-sea Engineers to close critical gaps identified in the country’s drive to operate actively in the nation’s deep offshore areas
