Eni in Nigeria operates in accordance with the law, international agreements and standards,
as well as national regulations and policies. The way we manage the environment, air
and land, and the way we protect biodiversity and water resources, is based on the
principles of prevention, protection, information and participation.
This engagement includes proactive measures to adopt eco-friendly operational practices, such as Water Injection; gas flaring reduction and gas valorization, and preventing oil and gas spillages arising from facility integrity or operational failures, and where they unavoidably occur, for instance through sabotage, to respond with the objective of minimizing damage to the environment.
In the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, we are committed to reducing gas flaring. The Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) is playing a particularly important role in this wise, with its objective of reaching zero routine gas flared by 2025.
Eni’s strategy aimed at reducing operational oil spills and oil theft has been outlined through an increasingly joint action on all the possible intervention plans, from the administrative to the technical prevention aspects, control and speed of intervention, also through participation in several international initiatives.
