Rome, September 25, 2026 – Eni has set a price cap on fuels marketed by Enilive at €2.19/l for diesel and €1.99/l for petrol (approximately 17 cents lower than current average levels).
The price cap is linked to the excise tax relief in effect, and will be applied starting September 28, for an initial period of 30 days, with the possibility to be extended through the end of the year depending on market and supply trends.
The contraction in the supply of refined products on the international market – deriving from ongoing geopolitical crises and combined with a shortage of refining capacity across Europe (with nearly 30 refineries closing over the last 15 years) – has driven fuel prices to levels that are extremely burdensome for Italian households and businesses. In this context, Eni aims to offer a further gesture of solidarity toward the country, consumers, and its customers. This initiative complements the measures already undertaken by the company since last March, by only partially passing on the rise in international market rates to the recommended prices at its service stations, thereby absorbing a significant portion of the cost increases.
Eni is also committed to operating the biorefineries established in Venice and Gela, as well as developing and transforming Livorno site and other industrial sites throughout the country. Through these initiatives, it protects employment and the environment, invests significant capital locally, and preserves refining capacity (specifically for sustainable products) that the market would otherwise lack.
