Eni publishes its voluntary sustainability report “Eni for 2025 – A Just Transition”

San Donato Milanese (Milan), 06 May 2026 – Eni published today “Eni for 2025 – A Just Transition”, its voluntary sustainability report outlining the results achieved over the year and the actions undertaken towards a just energy transition for people and territories. Now in its twentieth edition, the document is designed to enhance stakeholders’ understanding of Eni’s strategy and commitment, transparently representing the Company’s integrated approach to sustainability objectives.

“Eni addresses these challenges through a distinctive industrial model that pragmatically combines traditional businesses and new energy sources and integrates technological innovation, operational efficiency and value chain integration. Our business model places people at its core, safeguards the health and safety of everyone working with and for Eni, contributes to the well-being of the communities where we operate and to increasing environmental protection. This enables us to navigate market disruptions with resilience and to consistently advance along our transformation path”, commented Eni CEO, Claudio Descalzi.

Eni for 2025 reviews the main results achieved during the year, structured around the five key drivers for integrating social and environmental sustainability into the business model: carbon neutrality by 2050, environmental protection, the value of our people, development alliances, and sustainability across the value chain. The report also includes concrete case studies and interviews with external organisations and bodies with whom Eni collaborates, providing context on the global environment in which its strategy is implemented.

For Eni, 2025 was a year in which the consistency of its strategy and its execution enabled the Company to meet its goals despite a volatile context and a challenging international scenario.

In particular, Upstream net greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 31% compared to 2024 and by 68% versus the 2018 baseline, in line with the target of net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions for the Upstream business by 2030 and for Eni by 2035. This result was also achieved through continuous methane emissions monitoring and the achievement of zero routine flaring in operated activities.

Plenitude reached 5.8 GW of installed renewable capacity, up 41% year-on-year, progressing towards its 15 GW target by 2030. It also started operations in Texas of its largest battery storage facility, with a capacity of 200 MW. Enilive continued expanding its biorefining capacity, completing three new biorefineries and advancing two additional projects in Italy and abroad, with the aim of reaching 5 million tonnes of processing capacity by 2030, compared to the current 1.65 million tonnes, for the production of HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil) biofuels and SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel). In 2025, Eni also established, in joint venture with private equity fund Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), its Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) satellite company, which will leverage the value of Eni’s CCS project portfolio. These results confirm the effectiveness of Eni’s satellite model as a strategic driver to attract dedicated capital, enhance individual businesses and accelerate their growth, achieving transition targets.

Technology and innovation remain key drivers of Eni’s transition model: in 2025, the Company allocated over €460 million to research and development, open innovation, advanced digital solutions and breakthrough technologies, with a focus on magnetic confinement fusion and high-performance computing, biorefining technologies, chemical recycling of plastics, and CO₂ capture and storage solutions.

People remain at the heart of Eni’s model: the Company operates in line with the highest ethical standards and major international frameworks, promoting safety, human rights and inclusion. Eni ranked first in the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark and obtained the UNI PdR 125:2022 gender equality certification. During the year, it invested €81 million in local development projects for access to energy, water and healthcare services, as well as economic diversification, education and community health, reaching around 3 million people in the countries where it operates through initiatives developed in partnership with stakeholders – including partners, institutions, NGOs, international organisations and local communities – to continue generating shared and long-term value.
