Eni and Eni Foundation join forces with Egypt’s institutions to support hospital management and capacity building in Cairo

The Memorandum of Intent was signed by Eni’s subsidiary Ieoc and Eni Foundation with the Ministry of Health and Population and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

San Donato Milanese (Milan), 30 March 2026 – Eni, through its subsidiary Ieoc, and Eni Foundation signed today a Memorandum of Intent (MoI) with the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the Health Insurance Organization (HIO) and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoP) to engage in joint cooperation for the development and implementation of a community health project aimed at enhancing healthcare services and improving the well-being of the people in Cairo Governorate with a focus on vulnerable groups.

Ieoc and Eni Foundation, in partnership with MoHP and HIO, are launching a pilot project to strengthen hospital management at Cairo’s New Heliopolis Hospital by transferring best practices from the Italian healthcare model to improve efficiency, quality, sustainability, and equitable access to care. The New Heliopolis hospital project is an advanced care facility with a capacity of around 400 beds and will serve an area of 4 million people providing services in various core specialties, including cardiology, oncology, maternal and pediatrics.

The initiative aims to provide support for the start-up and ramp-up of new hospital facilities, strengthening operational, organizational, and management processes and providing technical assistance during the initial phases of operation.  The specific goal is to optimize care and services by enhancing quality, continuity, and accessibility, with a focus on mother and child health.

The agreement reflects Eni’s commitment to sustainable development and inclusive growth in its countries of operation, and builds on Eni Foundation’s project for children in Cairo and Port Saïd.  By working together, the partners aim to reinforce the positive impact of their initiatives, contributing to the long-term well-being of the communities.

Eni operates in Egypt through its subsidiary IEOC and is currently the leading producer in the Country, with a hydrocarbon production in excess of 240,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in Eni’s share in 2025.

Eni Foundation is a non-profit organization established by Eni in 2006 to promote and implement globally and in Italy social, humanitarian, and health-focused initiatives, particularly for vulnerable children and communities.
