Villahermosa, Tabasco (Mexico), July 27th, 2026 – Eni Foundation, in collaboration with the Mexican Institute of Social Security for Welfare (IMSS-BIENESTAR), inaugurated the Ojoshal Health Center and the Cárdenas Regional Vaccination Center as part of a project aimed at strengthening primary healthcare services in the Municipality of Cárdenas and the coastal region of the State of Tabasco.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Gary Arjona Rodríguez, Tabasco State Undersecretary for Sustainable Energy Development; Pablo Caso Torres, Tabasco State Coordinator of IMSS-BIENESTAR; Cinthya Ramón, representative of the Ministry of Health of the State of Tabasco; Massimo Insulla, Managing Director of Eni Mexico; and Domenico Giani, President of the Eni Foundation.

The project seeks to strengthen primary healthcare services in the Municipality of Cárdenas through collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the State of Tabasco, the Cárdenas Municipal Health Jurisdiction, and IMSS-BIENESTAR, reinforcing the Foundation's commitment to ensuring universal access to essential healthcare services, with particular emphasis on maternal and child health.

Among the project’s activities, support for and equipping of the Cárdenas Training Center, inaugurated in 2025, was completed at the beginning of 2026. Medical equipment and furnishings were delivered to the Cárdenas General Hospital and to the 43 healthcare units within the local Health Jurisdiction. At the same time, specialized medical training programs, master's degree courses, and diploma programs in Epidemiology, Public Health, Leadership, and Health Management were launched.

Community outreach and awareness activities were also carried out in support of the 43 healthcare centers in Cárdenas, with initiatives focused on vector control, nutrition, and strengthening epidemiological surveillance.

The inauguration of the two new centers represents another important step in strengthening the local healthcare system, helping to improve access to prevention, vaccination, and treatment services for thousands of people across the region.
