Eni strengthens its commitment in Angola: new Clean Cooking production center and launch of an agroforestry and environmental restoration program

Luanda (Angola), 23 June 2026 – Eni, in collaboration with the Salesians of Don Bosco and Doctors with Africa CUAMM, inaugurated a new improved cookstoves production center in Luanda, with the aim of expanding access to more efficient cooking solutions under the Clean Cooking program. The official ceremony was attended by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Pedro Azevedo.

The new production center in Luanda, capable of manufacturing innovative cookstove models at scale, complements the Benguela facility, which has also recently been upgraded, more than tripling the country’s overall production capacity. To date, the project has created more than 260 jobs supporting production, distribution and logistics activities, with further growth opportunities expected in the coming years.

"The inauguration of this new center represents a significant step forward in expanding access to more efficient and sustainable cooking solutions in Angola. Through the Eni for Clean Cooking program, we have already reached more than one million people and aim to engage 3.5 million by 2030, helping improve household living conditions, reduce fuel consumption, and deliver tangible benefits for health, the environment and local economic development," said João Maria da Silva, Managing Director of Eni Natural Energies Angola.

Alongside the production and free distribution of cookstoves, the program includes initiatives focused on training, social inclusion and health. These include technical specialization courses for approximately 2,400 students, the award of 130 multi-year scholarships in environmental and renewable energy sectors, the establishment of a vocational training center in Luanda, and awareness campaigns for families on nutrition and basic hygiene.

Eni also announced the launch of a sustainable agriculture and ecosystem restoration project in Moxico Province, in collaboration with C4 EcoSolutions. The initiative promotes sustainable farming practices and forest ecosystem restoration activities aimed at improving soil fertility, enhancing climate resilience, protecting biodiversity and contributing to CO₂ removal. The project will progressively cover around 40,000 hectares, involving up to 20,000 farmers and creating up to 700 jobs at peak activity, supported by training and technical assistance programs for local communities and with a strong focus on gender equality.

The Eni for Clean Cooking program is part of Eni’s broader commitment to promoting access to clean cooking solutions across Sub-Saharan Africa, where approximately one billion people still lack access to modern and efficient cooking systems. To date, the initiative has reached more than 4.6 million people across seven African countries - Angola, Côte d’Ivoire, Mozambique, the Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Tanzania and Madagascar - with the goal of reaching 10 million people by 2027 and 20 million by 2030.

The sustainable agriculture and ecosystem restoration project also contributes to Eni’s decarbonization strategy by generating environmental benefits through soil restoration, increased agricultural productivity and CO₂ removal. Avoided and removed emissions, once certified, will generate carbon credits to support the sustainability of the initiatives and Eni’s decarbonization targets.
