This initiative reflects a shared commitment to advancing national health priorities through a partnership model focused on building a resilient and inclusive healthcare system, ensuring long-term impact and strong local ownership.

Abidjan, 15 April 2026 – The Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and Eni Foundation have signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the national healthcare system and improving access to quality health services, with a particular focus on maternal and child health. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of the President of Eni Foundation Domenico Giani and the Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage, Mr. Pierre Dimba.

The collaboration will focus on reinforcing the capacities and skills of healthcare professionals and improving the quality of neonatology, pediatric and maternal services in the Bélier and Agnéby-Tiassa regions, with the objective of enhancing access to primary healthcare services.

The project includes the implementation of concrete initiatives on the ground, such as the construction and equipment of 6 new model maternity and maternal and child health (MCH) blocks within selected health centers identified in collaboration with the national institutions. It also foresees the provision of additional emergency medical equipment to the Regional Hospital Centre (CHR) of Yamoussoukro, as well as specialized training programs for midwives, nurses and other healthcare personnel. Activities will additionally include community awareness initiatives aimed at strengthening prevention, early detection and management of maternal and child health conditions and related emergencies.

In line with Eni Foundation’s approach, the collaboration seeks to deliver integrated solutions that combine infrastructure development, professional training and community engagement, with particular attention to maternal and child health. By working closely with public institutions and leveraging local capabilities, the initiative aims to contribute to a more resilient healthcare system, expand access to quality services and support improved health outcomes, especially for the most vulnerable segments of the population.

Eni has been present in Côte d'Ivoire since 2015 and has made the 2 largest hydrocarbon discoveries in the country, Baleine and Calao. The company is committed to energy production and a more sustainable development through projects in education, training, health and economic diversification.

Eni Foundation is Eni’s organization established in 2006 to promote and implement globally social, humanitarian, and health-focused initiatives, particularly for vulnerable children and communities.
