Eni, in collaboration with CERCO, launches a training project to promote youth employment in the Sud-Comoé region

Abidjan, June 27, 2025 – Eni Côte d’Ivoire announces the launch of a major joint project with CERCO, an international center of excellence for higher education and scientific research, targeting unemployed youth in the Sud-Comoé region. The initiative aims to facilitate access to the job market by focusing on sectors that drive the country’s growth, particularly information and communication technologies.

The project, launched today during the inauguration ceremony, will initially involve 180 young people, enhancing their professional skills through targeted training in high-employment sectors such as electronic assembly, digital marketing, and artificial intelligence.

At the same time, the initiative includes career guidance activities in selected secondary schools in the region, identified in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education and Literacy. These sessions aim to introduce students to potential career paths in IT and digital sectors. The schools will also be equipped with modern computer labs to support technical training.

“This initiative responds to a real need in the country: investing in technical training and career guidance to provide young people with concrete tools to build a sustainable future. New technologies offer increasing opportunities to bridge the employment gap, and our goal is to equip youth with the necessary skills to seize them, through training programs aligned with labor market demand,” said Luca Faccenda, Managing Director of Eni Côte d’Ivoire.

The project is part of Eni’s approach to support socio-economic development in its countries of operation and aligns with Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan. It leverages collaboration with CERCO, an educational center with established experience in training and technology. CERCO operates a state-of-the-art 10,000-square-meter facility in Grand Bassam, where training for the 180 selected youth will take place.

Eni has been present in Côte d’Ivoire since 2015 and has made the country’s two largest discoveries, Baleine and Calao. The company is committed to energy production and sustainable development through initiatives in education, training, healthcare, and economic diversification.
