Nampula, Angoche, (Mozambique) 20 March 2024 - The Managing Director of Eni Mozambico S.p.A., Marica Calabrese, and the Secretary of State of the Nampula Province, Jaime Neto, handed over several items of laboratory equipment to the Rural Hospital of Angoche, in Nampula Province, to improve the quality of health services in the district and surrounding areas.
The equipment donated includes hematological and biochemical analyzers, biosafety cabinets, a binocular microscope, a sterilization system, and laboratory refrigerator for the conservation of laboratory reagents which will be used to carry out more than 4,500 biochemical, hematological and microbiological tests. The support also includes the training of 8 laboratory technicians and the provision of maintenance services for a period of 6 months to ensure a longer lifespan of the equipment. The support to the Angoche Rural Hospital will benefit more than 20,000 patients a year.
This initiative is implemented under the cooperation agreement, signed in February 2022, between Eni Mozambico, on behalf of the Area A5-A partners, and the Health Authorities of Nampula Province, under the framework of Angoche exploration activities.
This partnership with the Mozambican health authorities reaffirms the commitment of Eni and Area A5-A partners to promote the well-being of the communities around the areas in which they operate, ensuring greater access to basic health care, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
About Eni
Eni has been present in Mozambique since 2006. Between 2011 and 2014, it discovered vast natural gas resources in the Rovuma basin, in the Coral, Mamba Complex, and Agulha reservoirs, with around 2,400 billion cubic meters of gas in place. Eni is the delegated operator of Coral South, the first Project to produce LNG in Mozambique. Since production startup in 2022, Coral South has delivered 47 cargoes of LNG.

Area A5-A in the Angoche basin is operated by Eni Mozambico S.p.A. together with National Hydrocarbons Company (ENH), Sasol and others.
