- SUSTAINABILITY
San Donato Milanese (Milan, Italy), 26 February 2021 – Eni and National Oil Corporation (NOC) have provided in recent days advanced medical laboratory equipment, consumables and staff training to the National Cancer Institute of Sabratha, an important coastal city in western Libya about 75 kilometers west of the capital Tripoli.
The equipment provided will significantly increase the accuracy in the diagnosis of cancer patients undergoing treatment at the Institute, offering the possibility of personalized and specific treatment paths for different patients.
This initiative is the latest in a series of actions to support the National Cancer Institute of Sabratha. In 2015, Eni provided advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment and related training for technical personnel. In 2018, Eni provided support for the training of three radiologists at the Institute through on-job training at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO).
Additionally, a water desalination plant and auxiliary system to provide fresh water to the institute is also ongoing. The project is being funded and realized by Eni.
Eni, together with NOC, is also committed to supporting the Libyan health authorities in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Eni has been present in Libya since 1959, where it operates through its subsidiary Eni North Africa.
