Eni confirms the recovery of the colleague falling victim to the accident
San Donato Milanese (Milan) – In reference to the accident taking place yesterday on the gas platform Barbara F, Eni reports that at around 05:00 AM, the colleague falling victim to the accident has been recovered.
The body, inside the crane cabin when it plunged in 70 meters of water, has been recovered following a joint operation between Eni Emergency staff and maritime authorities.
Safety procedures and crane recovery operations are currently ongoing. Eni confirms that the platform supply vessel operator who reported more injuries underwent surgery with positive outcome.
Eni is continuing to operate as needed to identify the causes of the accident. Initial investigations indicate the crane, inspected in accordance with legal requirements on the 23rd of August 2018, was lifting a 6.5-tonne empty tank at the time of the incident, with a lift capacity of 18 tonnes.

Eni expresses its deepest condolences to the colleague’s family
San Donato Milanese (Milan) – In reference to the accident taking place this morning on the gas platform Barbara F, with great sadness Eni reports that the missing colleague has been found inside the crane cabin located on the seabed of the area surrounding the platform.
Eni expresses its deepest condolences to the colleague’s family.
Regarding the two injured platform supply vessel operators, immediately transferred to Ancona’s hospital, Eni confirms that the first person has already been reported in the clear, while the second person is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Eni has immediately started inspections to shed light on the accident dynamics and is ensuring maximum cooperation to maritime authorities and fire department to support them on securing the area.
