Our activities in Qatar

Oil tankers running on sea to export

In Qatar, which has significant natural gas reserves, we are active in the exploration, development, production and sale of liquefied natural gas (LNG), of which the country is one of the leading global producers. Our collaboration with Qatar is therefore a key part of our strategy of diversifying our energy to include safer and more reliable sources. In particular, the North Field East (NFE) project, once again launched in partnership with QatarEnergy, will enable us to increase our LNG export capacity and to considerably strengthen our presence in the Middle East, where we invest in activities that contribute to the energy transition.

How we operate in the country

The biggest liquefied natural gas project in the world is taking place in Qatar

As well as being active in the production of natural gas, we are also part of the key global North Field East project to promote LNG. The initiative involves the construction of four trains with notable gas liquefaction capacity which will make it possible to significantly increase the volumes exported from Qatar. Scheduled to launch in 2025, the project will employ decarbonisation technologies, including the capture and storage of CO2.
