In August 2024,we closed the sale of Nigerian Agip Oil Company Ltd (NAOC Ltd), as part of a global strategy to streamline our activities and rebalance our portfolio, while maintaining our presence in the country through Nigerian Agip Exploration (NAE) and Agip Energy and Natural Resources (AENR). This transaction was made possible by the agreement signed in ì September 2023 between Eni and Oando PLC, and the formal approval received in July 2024 from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), along with all other necessary authorisations from the relevant local and regulatory authorities.
The Green River Project (GRP) was an integrated agricultural initiative set up with the aim of improving the quality of life of communities in the Delta, Imo, Rivers and Bayelsa States. The project aimed to ensure food security and sustainable entrepreneurship by involving local farmers and developing the potential of women and young people. In Nigeria, we operate to facilitate access to energy for local populations, promoting initiatives that encourage economic diversification and the realisation of value from gas generated in the country.

Through partnerships with international research institutes, we developed projects within our concessional areas. Thanks to the feasibility studies by the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), starting in the late 1990s, we raised awareness around opportunities in the agricultural sector. The Green River Project promoted programmes that foster employment, established cooperative societies and associations, and provided practical information on the use of agricultural products.

The involvement of local co-operatives
The GRP supported the population by ensuring greater food availability and easier access to healthcare services. Through a microcredit programme for the young people and women, the Project also supported the economic growth of each community and promoted banking skills.
Driving socio-economic growth also involves supporting farmers with education about their work. Based on an integrated system of growth-oriented services, the GRP contributed to improving the traditional agricultural system with new techniques and nutritionally and economically advantageous crops. Moreover, through the laboratories located in the area, it was possible to provide soil analysis services and fertilisation and soil-conservation plans.
