Contributes to Eni’s industrial transformation by managing traditional assets and developing supply chains in the circular economy and new businesses.
Eni Industrial Evolution S.p.A. was established in January 2026 following the transfer of the business division from the Refining Evolution & Transformation business unit. It is an integral part of the industrial transformation process initiated by Eni over a decade ago, aimed at enhancing and transforming production assets in a circular and innovative way.
The Company operates within a profound evolution of the Group’s industrial system, which aims to reconvert numerous sites by leveraging existing plants, developing new production chains and strengthening consolidated industrial expertise.
In this context, Eni Industrial Evolution manages the activities of refineries, depots and pipelines in Europe and the Middle East, turning the operation of traditional assets into a strategic lever to support Eni’s transformation.
The main activities of Eni Industrial Evolution involve managing traditional assets and supporting the development of new supply chains as part of the energy transition process.
The company aims for operational excellence and contributes to energy security by managing the traditional production sites of the Sannazzaro de’ Burgondi (Pavia), Taranto and Livorno refineries, as well as the Milazzo plant, in which Eni holds an interest in a joint venture.
It also manages the Robassomero (Turin) plant dedicated to the production of fuel additives.
Activities include the processing of raw materials and semi-finished products, as well as the operational management of the industrial plants transferred to the company, ensuring efficiency, production continuity and the enhancement of industrial assets.
The company supports the industrial transformation process by leveraging the transformation and evolution of existing sites and the development of new production chains, contributing to the Eni Group’s strategy to expand its portfolio of lower carbon-intensity products and services. It leverages the industrial know-how gained over decades in refining and logistics activities by integrating innovative technologies into production processes and emerging value chains.
In parallel with the development of new business initiatives, it ensures the efficient and effective management of traditional assets, guaranteeing operational continuity in full compliance with industrial and environmental safety regulations and procedures.
The goal is to preserve the contribution of existing resources while accelerating industrial evolution through new projects consistent with Eni’s strategy, in accordance with the three pillars of environmental, economic and social sustainability.
It contributes to the management of primary logistics assets, including depots and pipelines, ensuring reception, handling, storage and redelivery of products along the logistics chain.
Operations are governed by specific contracts signed between Eni and Eni Industrial Evolution S.p.A.
The Centro Ricerche Sud in San Filippo del Mela falls within the scope of the company’s activities and supports industrial transformation through the experimentation and optimisation of refining and biorefining processes. The centre features pilot plants dedicated to the evaluation of traditional raw materials and biofeedstocks, catalyst screening, and the optimisation of process parameters to support the evolution of downstream activities.
Eni Industrial Evolution holds interests in companies such as Ecofuel S.p.A. and Costiero Gas Livorno S.p.A., which operate in fields complementary to Eni’s refining and primary logistics activities.
These shareholdings strengthen the oversight of industrial infrastructure and contribute to the development of value chains consistent with the industrial transformation process.
Specifically, Ecofuel S.p.A. is a global operator that manages the production and marketing of clean fuel components, particularly oxygenates, and methanol. Costiero Gas Livorno S.p.A. operates in the logistics and storage of energy products through a plant located in the industrial area of the port of Livorno.
