The Rector of the Politecnico di Torino, Professor Guido Saracco, and Eni's CEO, Claudio Descalzi, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to further strengthen scientific collaboration and undertake a joint academic initiative to study energy from marine resources.
This development will increase the annual production capacity to more than 30 milliontonnes per year (Mtpa) from the current 22.5 Mtpa.

The Minister of the Environment and the Protection of Land and Sea, Sergio Costa, and Eni’s CEO, Claudio Descalzi, have signed a preliminary agreement committing Eni to carrying out a programme of decarbonization, environmental mitigation, and redevelopment and enhancement at the site in Gela, which is owned by multiple companies and is no longer used to produce and process mineral oils.
Eni, through its subsidiary Eni East Sepinggan Limited and Neptune Energy Group Limited, through its subsidiary Neptune Energy East Sepinggan BV, have completed the transfer of a 20% participating interest in the East Sepinggan area out of Eni’s share to Neptune Energy Group Limited. Eni, with 65% participating interest, will continue to be the Operator of the area which is located in the East Sepinggan area.
