Egypt

We are supporting the Ministry of Health in expanding support services for major burns victims in Egypt and in particular the Governorate of Port Said, in the Suez region.

Support for burn victims and a focus on paediatric care

The Eni Foundation, in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) , is working to improve services in support of burn patients. The initiative focuses on enhancing healthcare facilities in Cairo and Port Said at the Al-Haram and As-Salam hospitals. In Port Said, the project specifically seeks to improve assistance, recovery and rehabilitation, guaranteeing access to care systems that meet international standards, with a particular emphasis on children's healthcare.

Objectives

Our support for the Ministry of Health is aimed at expanding the services for major burn victims in Egypt, particularly in the Governorate of Port Said.

Initiated in 2018, the current stage of the project aims to enhance healthcare services, especially for children suffering from burns, at the Al-Haram hospitals in Giza, Cairo, where a plan has been devised for the renovation of the first floor. Similar improvements are also planned for As-Salam in Port Said, located in the Suez Region, where plans include:

  • the full renovation of the facility's fourth floor and the supply of medical equipment to set up a burns treatment unit
  • training and improvement of healthcare staff skills
  • strengthening the network of experts across multiple disciplines to serve burn victims in the Suez Region
  • implementing initiatives to raise awareness and prevent burns at the community level, lowering risk.

Our partners

The Eni Foundation funds the project and is responsible for its management. The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population plays a crucial role in implementing the project by ensuring full cooperation at all levels, especially in local and hospital settings through the relevant departments.

Duration of the initiative

The project began in 2018 and will run until 2026. The total investment is 5.4 million euros.
