Ruben is responsible for technical due diligence on early-stage startups, portfolio management support, and investment thesis development. Actively engaged in the follow-on of key portfolio companies, including Commonwealth Fusion Systems. Bridges technical assessment and investment decision-making, translating complex technology landscapes into actionable insights for business and financial stakeholders.

Work biography

Ruben brings over twenty years of experience at the intersection of engineering, technology strategy, and innovation, with a genuine passion for the transformative potential of deep-tech. Prior to joining EniNext, he held progressively senior roles within Eni's R&D and technology organization, where he led portfolio governance, technology strategy, external funding, and strategic partnerships in support of innovation and sustainable growth.

Earlier in his career, he worked in upstream oil and gas across multiple geographies including the United States, Venezuela, and the Republic of Congo, gaining hands-on experience in reservoir engineering and field operations before transitioning into technology management. Throughout, he has pursued a long-standing commitment to applied innovation as a driver of sustainable economic and societal value.

He holds a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Trieste.
