The ventures and technologies we bring to market
A balanced portfolio of companies and technologies: this is the result of our Corporate Venture Building model.
Our portfolio strategy
This approach allows us to diversify overall portfolio risk while maintaining the flexibility needed to seize new launch opportunities promptly.
The results of our Venture Building
The ventures we have built
A balanced portfolio of businesses that meet immediate market needs and high-tech challenge projects with greater long-term impact potential.
Joint venture with Solgeo and Aresys, launched in 2023 as Eniverse’s first venture. Enivibes developed e-vpms, a real-time vibro-acoustic monitoring technology for pipelines, detecting leaks and interference.
Joint venture with ITQuanta, launched in 2024. Eniquantic designed a full-stack quantum computer for renewable energy, new materials, and complex system optimisation to support the energy transition.
Established with DG Impianti Industriali in 2025, Sentris developed e-splora, a technology for inline pipeline inspection that transports fluids capable of detecting deposits, deformations and corrosion.
Launched with FuturaSun in 2025, SunXT develops perovskite-silicon tandem solar panels capable of capturing light on both sides to maximise solar energy conversion.
Project highlights
In addition to the ventures already launched, we also explore a portfolio of high-potential technologies with broad applications. From cutting-edge solutions for thermal and electrical storage to new strategic assets, we select the best ideas to bring new businesses to life.
FLG: Few-Layer Graphite
FLG is a water-based dispersion of exfoliated graphite developed by Eni R&D. It is completely metal-free and guarantees high stability, uniform dispersion and robust barrier properties. Its micro-flakes, when incorporated into existing formulations, create a protective, waterproof and insulating layer with anti-corrosive, anti-fouling and antibacterial properties, thanks to a metal-free biocide.
GSN: Gas Sensor Node
A network of smart sensors, installed directly on flanges and valves, ensures 24/7 monitoring of facilities, transforming reactive monitoring into a proactive approach.
The wireless, self-powered and ATEX-certified sensors are supported by data analysis software e-LeakWatch and Quantisense, and are fully compliant with the most stringent international regulations, such as the EU Methane Regulation and OGMP 2.0.
TES: Thermal Energy Storage
Using a high-density cementitious material, this thermal battery converts electricity or waste heat into ready-to-use energy, replacing fossil fuels and making intermittent sources like solar power programmable.
With an efficiency of up to 98% and an operational life of over 20 years, it accelerates decarbonisation in energy-intensive sectors such as food, paper, chemical and steel industries through Power-to-Heat, Heat-to-Heat and Renewables-to-Heat modes.
SOSCO2
SOSCO2 is Eni’s proprietary technology that transforms gas-fired power generation into a zero-emissions solution.
An oxy-combustion system integrates SOFC fuel cells and oxy-turbines, capturing CO₂ directly at source and eliminating nitrogen oxide emissions.
With over 64% net electrical efficiency, the capture of more than 98% of CO₂ and a modular design ranging from 10 to over 400 MWe, it is an ideal solution for data centres, energy utilities and hard-to-abate industries.
