Basilicata Open Lab: three companies win awards

Abnadir, Lucania Funghi and Nutriplant are the winners of the Entrepreneurship Award promoted as part of the Call4Innovation of Basilicata Open Lab. The three companies have won a grant worth 20,000 euros each and access to a five-month support programme, which includes the support of mentors and specialised coaches.
The awards ceremony took place on 24 March in Matera. During the event, the six finalists presented innovative business projects in the sectors of construction, mobility, energy and agriculture: key sectors for the ecological and digital transition of the region.

• Abnadir s.r.l., a company specialising in the processing and sale of marble and other stone materials, presented “abNadir – Innovations in the marble supply chain” – a system of patented processes and products to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the stone materials supply chain.
• Lucania Funghi, a company that produces king trumpet mushrooms using a traditional yet innovative soil-free vertical-farming method, proposed “MyCoBee – Biomaterials from mushroom waste” – a project that aims to transform the waste from the cultivation of mushrooms into biomaterials that can be used to create eco-friendly beehives.
• Nutriplant, which designs, manufactures and sells special fertilisers and high-tech nutritional solutions, integrating applied research, specialised agronomic support and analytical services for agribusiness, presented an “Intelligent system for capturing alien insects”. The idea is to develop smart and selective traps for monitoring and capturing invasive insects in Mediterranean crops, supplemented with sensors and data analysis.

Basilicata Open Lab is the initiative promoted by Eni – through Joule and with the support of Shell Italia E&P – to strengthen the network of innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.

It acts as a way to promote sustainable development, competitiveness and collaboration between companies, startups and talented local young people. Activities focus on four strategic areas: agritech, sustainable mobility, bioenergy, and local development.

The project is developed through two pathways: the Co-Innovation Award aimed at Italian startups interested in developing projects with Basilicata-based companies and the Entrepreneurship Award, dedicated to local companies with their own innovative proposals.
