The third edition of the ORA! – Outpost Ravenna for Energy Transition project has been successfully completed. Over the course of three years, 32 companies have been involved, 21 students from 10 different countries have taken part, and 720 startups have been analysed. A total of 80 one-to-one meetings between startups and companies have been organised, resulting in 62 innovation challenges. These impressive figures were presented by Mattia Voltaggio, Head of Joule, at the "Eni in Ravenna - A shared commitment to the Just Transition” event, which took place on 22 October in the city of Romagna.

The innovation platform has a strong international focus and is centred on technologies related to the blue and green economies. It aims to support local businesses in their transition through partnerships and industrial collaborations with international startups and scaleups.

The three main activities of the ORA! project:

  • ORA! Academy: a one-year training programme for fresh graduates (master degree) with a focus on open innovation and innovation management applied to the blue and green economy. The training programme focusses on international scouting, matching with local businesses and the implementation of experimental projects (PoC – Proof of Concept);
  • Support and Training for local businesses: training for local entrepreneurs aimed at transferring methodologies and best practices related to open innovation opportunities. Through the creation of working groups and networking activities, the needs of companies in a number of strategic supply chains in the region will be identified: chemicals, waste management, carbon capture and storage, energy efficiency and security, renewable energy.
  • Business Matching: once the needs of local companies have been mapped, national and international startups are selected for joint innovation activities (Venture Clients).
