La scoperta di gas effettuata nel prospetto esplorativo Mamba Sud 1 è di circa il 50% più grande rispetto a quanto annunciato dalla Società lo scorso 20 ottobre.
La ricerca, che avra' come oggetto l'"Anti-corruzione e il settore privato - il ruolo dei programmi aziendali anti-corruzione", sara' svolta da esperti della direzione legale di Eni, prima azienda ad aderire a questo tipo di progetto, e da cinque prestigiose universita' sotto il coordinamento dell'ISPAC.
La Presidenza del Consiglio ha preso atto del carattere temporaneo della fermata dell’impianto e dell’impegno di Eni di riavvio delle produzioni e delle tutele dei lavoratori coinvolti.
Il pozzo Mamba South 1, primo pozzo esplorativo nella zona 4, è stato perforato in una profondità d'acqua di 1585 metri, a circa 40 km al largo della costa di Cabo Delgado, nell'offshore settentrionale del Mozambico.

Lo sviluppo del giacimento Kitan rafforza i piani di crescita di Eni nella regione sulla scia delle recenti acquisizioni di asset nell'offshore australiano, delle ultime importanti scoperte nell'offshore dell'Indonesia e delle iniziative della Società nel gas non convenzionale in Indonesia e in Cina.
