In linea con la strategia di Eni in materia di transizione energetica globale, a partire dal 1° gennaio 2021, Eni Trade & Biofuels SpA ("ETB"), interamente controllata da Eni SpA, sarà l'unica entità responsabile del trading internazionale di greggio, prodotti petroliferi, materie prime bio per la produzione di biocarburanti e relativi derivati finanziari per il gruppo Eni.
In particolare, ETB sarà responsabile della commercializzazione delle produzioni petrolifere di Eni, dell'approvvigionamento di idrocarburi e materie prime bio e della commercializzazione delle produzioni risultanti dalle sue raffinerie e bioraffinerie, e di Versalis, la società chimica di Eni.
Le attività di ETB includono inoltre l'approvvigionamento e la gestione dei servizi logistici e di trasporto marittimo, nonché la fornitura di servizi di gestione del rischio petrolifero, per sé e per conto di tutto il gruppo Eni, mediante la negoziazione di derivati su commodity di competenza nei principali mercati regolamentati e over the counter.
L'integrazione di ETB con le più ampie attività Eni garantisce un approccio globale e integrato che è ulteriormente rafforzato dalle relazioni del gruppo Eni e dal suo portafoglio globale.
ETB è il braccio commerciale del gruppo Eni per petrolio greggio, prodotti petroliferi, biocarburanti e materie prime di origine biologica; il 1° gennaio 2021 ETB ha completato l'acquisizione delle attività di Eni Trading and Shipping S.p.A. e dei relativi servizi di trasporto marittimo.
ETB si affida a un team di circa 250 persone in tre sedi nel mondo (Roma, Londra e Singapore) con l'aggiunta a Houston di Eni Trading & Shipping Inc. che si occupa dell’attività di commercializzazione nel mercato statunitense di greggi e prodotti petroliferi.
ETB, insieme a ETS Inc., garantisce una presenza globale sui mercati internazionali.

Le attività di trading di ETB si concentrano sulla valorizzazione delle produzioni di greggio equity di Eni e dei prodotti raffinati da Green/Traditional Refinery and Marketing, garantendo al contempo l’approvvigionamento e la consegna di materie ottimali (sia tradizionali che bio) per il sistema di raffinazione e chimico di Eni.
Una presenza di mercato globale e attiva sia volta alla vendita di greggio equity, sia all'approvvigionamento di greggi con gradi alternativi per le nostre raffinerie, è fondamentale per garantire la massimizzazione del valore.
Allo stesso modo, l'ottimizzazione del portafoglio di prodotti raffinati è fondamentale per garantire il massimo valore, in particolare in periodi di volatilità nei mercati.
L'attività di trading si sviluppa anche attraverso un'articolata rete logistica di asset (alcuni di proprietà di Eni, altri affittati da terzi) attraverso i quali l'attività viene ulteriormente valorizzata e ottimizzata.
Le attività di trasporto consistono nell'approvvigionamento e nella gestione di servizi di trasporto marittimo e logistici per petrolio greggio e prodotti petroliferi/chimici, sia su rotte internazionali che nazionali, svolte per uso proprio e fornite ad altre linee di business di Eni e ad altre società di Eni.
In particolare, il trasporto internazionale di petrolio greggio e prodotti raffinati viene effettuato tra i luoghi di produzione o raffinazione e altri impianti sia di Eni che di operatori terzi.
Il trasporto interno, invece, si riferisce principalmente ai semilavorati e ai prodotti finiti, sia di raffinazione che chimici, tra i vari centri di produzione e distribuzione delle unità operative di Eni.
Per ETB è essenziale che i charter e i relativi operatori tecnici rispettino tutti i codici di sicurezza ambientali e internazionali.
Per garantire questo, ETB ha istituito un proprio team di controllo che garantisce la selezione e l'autorizzazione dell'uso delle navi attraverso ispezioni che ne valutano la conformità ai più alti standard del settore.
Questo servizio è stato avviato a metà degli anni Novanta e da allora è stato sviluppato un sofisticato sistema informatico che consente sia la verifica del rispetto dei rigorosi standard richiesti dal settore sia l'ottimizzazione dei processi.
Le ispezioni ETB di navi per il trasporto di petrolio, gas e prodotti petroliferi/chimici vengono eseguite attraverso il sistema SIRE (Ship Inspection Report) e da ispettori accreditati OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum). ETB si avvale di due società di ispezione tramite un contratto di servizio. Ove possibile, le valutazioni vengono effettuate sulla base di ispezioni fisiche condotte da team di ETB.
la valutazione riguarda le seguenti aree: conformità ai criteri di selezione minima ETB (MSC), inosservanza dei controlli SIRE, PSC (Port State Control) e dello Stato di bandiera, età della nave, risultati del Tanker Management Self Assessment (TMSA), registro degli incidenti e relazioni precedenti.
ETS aderisce al programma TMSA e supporta gli operatori di navi che partecipano attivamente al sistema.
