Exploration & Production

Eni has been operating in the country since 1970. In 2015 Eni’s share of production totalled two million cubic metres a day (the equivalent of 11,000 boe/day). Activities are concentrated in the north of Trinidad, over a developed area of 382 square kilometres (sixty-six square kilometres net to Eni). All exploration and production activities are regulated by Production Sharing Agreements. Production comes from the gas fields of Chaconia, Ixora, Hibiscus, Poinsettia, Bougainvillea and Heliconia in the North Coast Marine Area 1 (Eni 17.3%). The exploitation of reserves is carried out through the use of two fixed platforms connected to the Hibiscus treatment plant. The gas produced is used to power the 2, 3 and 4 trains of the Atlantic LNG liquefaction plant, and is destined mainly for the US market on the basis of long-term contracts. Surplus liquefied gas production is mainly sold on a spot basis to other markets.
