Eni has been present in Croatia since the 1980s with exploration activities and since 1996 has been operating with Eni Croatia b.v. The activity in the country is conducted in two permits located offshore of the Adriatic Sea, in front of the city of Pula, for a total developed and undeveloped area of 1,975 square kilometers (987 net to Eni).
In june 2018, Eni and INA-INDUSTRIJA NAFTE d.d. have signed an agreement to enable INA to acquire 100% of Eni Croatia b.v., that currently produces about 2.5 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. The sale remains subject to approval by the competent Authorities.
Supply of natural gas from Croatia to the Italian market will be secured by a commercial agreement between INA and Eni, which will ensure the gas produced from the Marica exploitation area continues to be transported to Italy.
Through this deal, which is in line with its asset disposal and rationalisation programme, Eni exits the upstream sector in Croatia, where it has been present since 1996 in partnership with INA.
