Exploration & Production

Eni has been in Croatia since 1996. In 2015 production attributed to Eni was about 0.6 million cubic metres of natural gas per day. The activities in the country are in two offshore wells in the Adriatic Sea at the town of Pola. The total developed and non-developed area is 1,975 square kilometres (987 attributed to Eni). Exploration and production activities in Croatia are controlled by Production Sharing Agreement (PSA). Production is supplied by wells Annamaria, Ivana, Ika & Ida, Ana, Vesna, Irina, Marica and Katarina operated by Eni in a 50/50 joint-venture with the Croatian company INA. The gas is transported through pipelines under the sea to be sold in the Italian and Croatian markets. In March 2010 production began in the offshore oil field platform Annamaria B, situated in Italian waters. Gas flows through an underwater pipeline to a treatment plant in Fano to be put on the national distribution network. The development of the well Annamaria, which straddles the border in the Adriatic Sea between Croatia and Italy, is regulated by an international treaty called “Annamaria Integrated Development and Operative Agreement” (AIDOA), officially approved by the Italian and Croatian governments. In April 2015, Eni was awarded an exploration licence as part of the first Croatian Offshore Licensing Round, thus consolidating the company’s presence in the country. The licence refers to Block 9, located offshore in the Adriatic Sea, an area where Eni has a leading position and has been operating for decades, both on the Italian and Croatian sides. Eni will hold a 60% stake, with the role of operator, in partnership with Rockhopper (40%).
